We had the day off from our camp hosting duties and drove into Two Harbors. We saw colorful Edna G. From afar and decided to take the guided tour. Edna G. is a tug boat that was built in 1896, she was named after the Railroad President's daughter. Our guide said that they would never name a boat after their wife because they weren't sure the marriage will be for life, but a daughter will always be a daughter!
Edna G. was involved in several shipwreck rescues on Lake Superior. She was the last coal-fired, steam engine tug boat to retire in 1981.
