Today is Lake Superior Day on the North Shore. Kurt and I had forgotten about it until we heard ship horns. We grabbed our cameras, ran down to the lake hoping to photograph some ships but we could not see the horizon because of a thick fog.
I love lake Superior very much but I'm intimidated by it. It's so vast, it reminds me of a sea. When Kurt and I are photographing on the edge of the cliffs, my eyes are always scanning the lake down below, looking for an escape route just in case I fall. I wouldn't make it very long in the cold water. It's ironic because the water looks so inviting, clear and blue.
Tonight we'll attend a naturalist presentation about the Shipwrecks of Lake Superior. Kurt and I were surprised to find out that there have been hundreds of them!
