On our way to our next destination, we made a point to explore Sanibel Island. We wanted to photograph it for our fine art photography project Un Petit Monde.
It was love at first sight! We were only crossing the bridge and I was already hooked. There was a warm morning light on the bridge and the island. It was incredible!
Once on the island, we looked for parking that could accommodate our 27 ft RV which happened to be near one of the beaches. We unhooked our bikes and rode to the historic lighthouse.
On our way there, the island felt like a resort. It was clean, tidy and lush. Everyone that we crossed on the path greeted us with a Good Morning. I don't remember seeing any chains but only independent cafés, bookstores, general stores and boutiques.
Sanibel Island has one of the best bike paths we've come across so far. Bikes have a whole separate road system with stop signs and rest areas, similar to Minneapolis' greenway but with palm trees :-)
We spent quite some time on the beach where Kurt got some amazing images for our fine art photography project! I could spend days on the beaches of Sanibel sifting through seashells, it's addictive and very calming to look through the shells.
