A couple days ago we explored the towns of Everglades City and Chokoloskee.
I'm so glad we did because on the map Everglades City showed an airport and Chokoloskee was barely visible, yet they are worth a detour!
Everglades City is one of the entry points to the Everglades National Park so Kurt and I were hoping to hike in the park. At the ranger station we learned that this part of the Everglades was all water and that the only way to explore was by taking a boat tour or renting a canoe.
So we hopped back on our bikes and explored downtown Everglades City.
From Everglades City we biked the 4-mile road to Tiny Chokoloskee. As soon as we reached the town, we saw a dozen pelicans waiting on a dock for hand outs from fishermen. Kurt was able to get really close for a photo.
All this activity made us hungry so we stopped for a delicious lunch at the Havana Café.
